one of my favorite clothing lines for many years...the homies shayne oliver and raul lopez definitely have their minds right. if you want a little religion you got it, a little futurism you got that too, best of all its topped with that hood whipped cream... this really is my favorite clothing line ever. a real indication of genius and pioneering new methods for fashion, hybrid themes, illiminating borders.

this group has by far one of the most distinguishable sounds i've heard in years. they are pioneering a genre. the future is about hybridity and this group is developing an audible language that pairs the unlikely sounds of psychedelia, goth, juke and rap. their music sounds like it could communicate with some unknown life form thats way more evolved than us, it really creates an experience.

house of la dosha is composed of 3 marvellous boys named antonio, adam and ojay. they are compelling performers and their musical project house of la dosha takes a really hard, hood, futuristic approach on gay sex, sexuality, gender performance and obsessions with vanity. this is what homosexuality will look like in the mainstream, it is no longer defined by the hyper-active aesthetic and sound of the 90's 'paris is burning' lineage, but rather exposes the dark, honest, putrid side of the life of the modern queen.

media futurist- gerd leonhard- my latest obsession

my recent obsession is with understanding the future and what the development of so many technological advancements will mean for my visual, performance and sound projects. i've watched just about all the videos i can find by gerd leonhard, dont be fooled although he focuses mostly on the music industry in his career as a media futurist, his projections and analysis is applicable to our understanding of all things in the future, because consumption is streamlining and the tangible product is dying. i recommend everyone become obsessed with him he's really perceptive.

the cross in this earring is from the mexican plaza fiesta in atlanta, georgia and the stringed beads from a piece of jewelry i got traveling in colorado. this earring is meant to be worn alone. this and the other pieces below are made from relics, pendants, rocks and jewelry i've acquired traveling through america, south america and the caribbean over the last 10 years. each piece is one of a kind.

influences.

Alot of the jewelry i've been making I refer to as a synthesis of aesthetics and ideas i've been fascinated with for a long time. My father is from Ecuador and naturally I have an inclination towards the indigenous culture as well as the lush green landscape of the country. The markets in Otavalo, located in the highlands just north of Quito were a huge resource of inspiration for me after I traveled home in 2007. NYC, the home I know best however offers very little of these same influences. Here I am drawn to the punk and gothic aesthetics, even grunge... the city boasts of an organized filth and layers of hardship, substance abuse and ingenuity among other things that can can propel you downward and so the pieces im working on, jewelry and abound try to balance the spirit with its demons. In New York, I require a very specific balance of destructive behavior and absolutely pure behavior. The pieces of jewelry entitled SORCIERE concoct magic remedies in their existence joining the ideas and energies of the purest and most evil to make a sort of hanging altar that will balance you anywhere.
